Blanca Maria Rojas-Andres

Assistant Professor at Leipzig University

My research interests are focused on systematics and evolution of flowering plants with a special emphasis on evolution of polyploid complexes. Polyploidy is one of the main speciation mechanisms that has shaped the evolutionary history of angiosperms and little is still known about many aspects of polyploid evolution.

I try to understand how species evolve through hybridization and polyploidization using the genus Veronica (Plantaginaceae) as a model. In addition, I am interested in others topics such as phylogeography, biogeography and conservation of vascular plants.
